We found our first sailboat 20 years ago, a First 22. We kept the boat for about 10 years moving her from Belgium to Spain as we were moving for work. Our two kids grew up on this boat, spending each week-end and vacation. Best memories we have.
When we came down to Florida after 10 years in NJ, we decided to go back to sailing. We found a Tartan 33 from 1981. We are now sailing the area of Punta Gorda each week-end.
The skipper ! As long as I remember we had boat in the family. The first one was a mall 18 ft cruiser. My parents were sailing with us in Brittany, one of the most difficult place to sail (Ile de Sein). Later, we also had a First 18, Hobie Cat, Tornado…and windsurf !
First mate, cook, crew member, wife…she is everything ! I still can remember the first time we went out with the First 22. Her first boating experience ! Always there with a good idea !
Neil our youngest son. Fine sailor and navigator.
Gary our oldest son. Still in NJ. Raised with the sea.
Diana. She had been for years, with our two kids, an active crew member of Al Avandaluz, our First 22 sailboat when we were in Spain. Gone on 02/17/2018 but always with us. Fair winds and a following sea Diana!
